Cohen added five assists in the win

MEDFORD - Led by junior Ben Ferris' double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, Tufts University defeated UMass Dartmouth men's basketball by the final of 73-54 Tuesday evening at Cousens Gym in non-conference action.
The Jumbos improved to 11-9 and with the loss, the Corsairs fell to 12-8.
Senior Kwame Firempong (Los Angeles, CA) finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, while sophomore Stephen Haladyna (South Hamilton, MA) dropped in 12 points to help carry the Jumbos to the win.
For the Corsairs, Ryan Walsh finished with 14 points, three rebounds and two assists. Tucker Bouchard registered 13 points and four rebounds and Wale Abraham grabbed a game-high 13 boards to go along with his seven points.
The Jumbos were able to jump out to a 9-0 lead 2:36 into the game with five points coming by Farris. They took a 20-6 margin over the Corsairs on a three-pointer by sophomore Ryan Spadaford (Rockville Centre, NY) just over eight minutes into the contest.
However, the visitors got their offense going and came within four points when Abi Akanni's layup made the score 32-28 with 2:02 remaining in the half. Tufts went on a run to go into halftime with a 39-30 lead.
The Jumbos never allowed the visitors to stage a comeback as they extended their lead to as much as 25 points in the second half to go on for the 73-54 victory.
Tufts returns to NESCAC action on Friday at Hamilton. Game time is 8 pm. The Corsairs host Southern Maine play Saturday at 3 pm for a Little East Conference game.
