SOMERVILLE – The Tufts University Jumbos scored four goals in the second half to take a 4-1 victory over Suffolk University in non-conference men's soccer action at Dilboy Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Junior Connor Brown scored a pair of goals on the evening for the Jumbos who improve to a 3-0 start to the young season. Brown scored the eventual game-winner in the 78th minute of the contest as he put home a rebound off his own initial shot on a breakaway.

Junior Nicholas Chamma was strong in net all night for Suffolk as he made 20 saves in the contest. Tufts managed to break the game open over a seven-minute span in the second half as they scored a flurry over goals late in the period.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore Gaston Becherano knocked in the game's first goal in the 53rd minute of the contest.

Suffolk would answer with a little help from the Jumbos. Following a penalty on Tufts, sophomore Ben Daniels booted a free kick towards the Jumbos' net that was misplayed by a defender and found its way into the goal to even the game at the 60-minute mark.

Brown would put the Jumbos up with their second goal of the night as he was able to sneak his way by the Suffolk defense. Just ten seconds later Tufts would answer again as senior Kyle Volpe put in a one-timer that was set up by senior Gus Santos.

Tufts would put the game away with less than five minutes remaining in the contest as Brown struck for his second strike of the evening and team-leading fourth of the season as he took a feed from Becherano on a two-on-one for the 4-1 advantage.

The Jumbos put out a total of 41 shots on the evening as they controlled the majority of the contest offensively. Chamma's strong play kept the game tight as he made several point-blank saves.

Freshman Bruce Johnson needed to make just a pair of saves for the Jumbos to earn his first collegiate win in goal.

Both teams will be back in conference action on Saturday afternoon. Tufts will travel to Colby College in a NESCAC matchup beginning at 4:00 pm. Suffolk will welcome Rivier University to Dilboy Stadium as they open up their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) slate. That match will begin at 4:00 pm.
