Volleyball Falls to Bowdoin in Saturday Afternoon Volleyball Action

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team bounced back from its first home defeat in two years with an impressive 3-0 victory over Tufts on Saturday afternoon at Morrell Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears, ranked first in the latest New England Women's Volleyball Association poll, improve to 9-2 (1-1 NESCAC) with the win while the Jumbos fall to 5-5 (1-1 NESCAC).  Bowdoin has won the last seven meetings between the teams.

Bowdoin jumped to an early lead in all three sets and cruised to the victory, posting set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-12. Christy Jewett paced the Polar Bear attack with seven kills, five digs and three blocks. Hailey Wahl had six kills while Erika Sklaver also posted six kills to go with six blocks. Quincy Leech dished out 14 assists and Katie Doherty had eight digs for Bowdoin.

Tufts received six kills from junior Maddie Kuppe while senior tri-captains Isabel Kuhel and Hayley Hopper had four kills apiece. Sophomore Sara Wojciechowski led the Jumbos with 14 assists in the setback.

The Polar Bears will return to the court on Friday evening at home against Colby (7:00 pm). The Jumbos will next play on Saturday at Connecticut College (12:00 pm).
