COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Tufts volleyball team took on #17 ranked Clarkson in their second game of the day at the Colorado College Classic, but the Golden Knights came away with the three set win (25-20, 25-20, 25-16).
The Jumbos took on St. Mary's earlier in the day, but were not able to earn the win in that match. They will wrap up play in the Colorado College Classic tomorrow by taking on East Texas Baptist at 6:00 pm and the host Colorado College at 8:00 pm.
Once again the Jumbos were led offensively by senior tri-captain Hayley Hopper who had ten kills and 11 digs. Junior Carolina Berger also had 11 digs, while first-year Alex Garrett had seven of her own.
Sophomore Frances Brumley took care of most of the setting for the Jumbos, finishing with 22 assists.
Clarkson (4-1) had 15 kills from junior Victoria Kirkemo and ten from senior Adrienne Walker. Sophomore Hannah Jones had a team high 21 digs with first-year Evanne Jimenez also earning 18 digs.
After defeating the Jumbos, Clarkson went on to lose to host Colorado College in three sets. The Golden Knights will take on St. Mary's and ETBU tomorrow.
Tufts (0-2) plays two more games on Saturday to wrap up tournament play. They will then have a week to prepare for the MIT Invitational which will be held September 12 and 13.
