WORCESTER - The Tufts Women's Crew raced its Novice squad at the annual Head of the Snake Regatta on Saturday at Lake Quinsigamond.
The Jumbo walk-on novice crew had their first race ever, after four weeks and approximately 20 practices. Tufts acquitted themselves well, with the novice women finishing fifth of 17 in a 20:07.373 time.
Rowing for Tufts was Zhaoying Xu, Wangyu Xiong, Saruchi Devanahalli, Angeliki Perdikari, Alyssa Brodeur, Mary Carroll, Miriam Weiss, Lienne Ng and Sera Busse.
More action for Jumbo Women's Crew tomorrow as the varsity women travel to UMass Amherst for sculling races with UMass and Ithaca. Tufts will compete in next weekend's Head of the Charles Women's College Eights event on Sunday afternoon.
