KEENE, N.H. - Visiting Tufts University came away with a 3-0 win over host Keene State College in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
Tufts, which hasn't allowed a goal since October 4, posted its fourth consecutive shutout and improves to 8-3-2. Keene State falls to 4-9 this year.
The Jumbos had the first chance of the game through leading scorer Nathan Majumder, but KSC starter Justin Carnevale came out to make the save.
Tufts did break through in the 29th minute, as Majumder laid off a pass from Rui Pinheiro, whose shot from 20 yards out took a sharp deflection and wrongfooted Carnevale on its way into the upper right hand corner.
Three minutes later, Majumder scored his seventh goal of the year, with Kevin Lawson providing the assist.
Keene State nearly pulled a goal back six minutes before halftime, but Tufts' goalie Bruce Johnson made a spectacular acrobatic save to keep out Jacob Papanicolaou. Johnson was making his first appearance in the Jumbo goal for 2015.
Tufts wrapped up the game with just over four minutes to go, as Lawson finished off a pass from Jarod Glover.
The Jumbos held a slight 15-10 advantage in shots. Johnson made three saves in net for Tufts, while Carnevale made one save in 45 minutes of action for Keene State. Jacob Walker played the second half and made two stops.
Tufts travels to Williams for a 1 pm kickoff in NESCAC action Saturday. Keene State returns to LEC play with a road game at UMass Boston on Saturday at 1 pm.
