MEDFORD - Playing their spring home opener, the Tufts men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 NESCAC victory over Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon at Voute Courts.

Including Friday's 7-2 victory at Colby College, Tufts has won two conference contests in a row to improve their NESCAC record to 2-3. They are 5-6 overall. Connecticut College dropped to 7-9 overall and remained winless in the conference at 0-6. They have lost six straight.
The Jumbos swept the doubles points to start off 3-0. While they won with ease at #2 and #3, junior Rob Jacobson and freshman Rohan Gupte went extra for victory at #1 (9-7) against Camels Josh Suneby and JC Cangelosi. Freshmen Zain Ali and Griffin Brockman threw a shutout at #2, while junior Jay Glickman and senior co-captain Brian Tan were 8-3 winners in the third match.
Tufts was even more convincing in singles play. Sophomore Benjamin Battle gave up just three games in the first match. Freshman Danny Coran was a 6-0, 6-1 winner on the sixth singles court and classmate Kevin Kelly went 6-4, 6-0 for his victory at #5.
Glickman added a #2 singles win to his doubles victory and junior #4 Nick Cary also won in two sets. The only Tufts loss came at #3 where Conn's Jonathan Deeter defeated freshman Garrett Weinstein in a super tie-breaker.
Head coach Karl Gregor's Jumbos continue a busy weekend with two more home matches tomorrow. Tufts, ranked 30th in the ITA poll, faces #32 Washington and Lee at 10 am followed by NESCAC foe / #14 ranked Williams College at 2 pm. The Camels next face non-conference action at Babson on Thursday.
