MEDFORD, MA (June 4, 2026) -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2026 Division III All-American list for singles and doubles Wednesday afternoon, and the Jumbos were well represented with two players on the singles' list while the Jumbos top doubles' pairing was all named.
Tufts saw seniors
Alex Ganchev and
Javier Gonzalez named to the Division III Men's Singles listing as All-Americans, while Ganchev and teammate
Sacha Maes were Division III Men's Doubles All-Americans. Tufts was one of six schools with multiple All-Americans in singles, while Ganchev was one of 10 players nationally to be listed in both singles and doubles.
A NESCAC All-Conference first-team honoree in singles for 2026, Gonzalez played at #1 for the Jumbos and is ranked 16th nationally and sixth regionally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as of May 13. He was a perfect 6-0 in NESCAC dual meets and finished the season 9-5 in singles overall.
Gonzalez was selected to play in the NCAA Singles Tournament, but had to withdraw due to an injury. He also played doubles in all three positions for the Jumbos, including going 14-0 with sophomore teammate
Stavros Mastrogamvrakis.
Gonzalez was a 2025 NCAA Doubles finalist and NCAA singles semifinalist who has earned ITA All-American honors for 2025 singles, 2025 doubles and 2024 singles. A #1 doubles and #2 singles player on the Tufts team that advanced to the NCAA Semifinals in 2025, Gonzalez was also a 2025 CSC Academic All-District® Team member as well as a three-time NESCAC All-Academic Team honoree.
Ganchev was an All-NESCAC First Team honoree in singles and doubles this season, as Ganchev finished the season in singles with a stellar 17-2 record including going 16-1 in singles' play in the dual match season. He was an unblemished 10-0 at No. 2 in the spring season, while finishing the year with a 16-match win streak. He was ranked in the ITA rankings during the spring season.
Maes and Ganchev were NESCAC All-Conference first-team in doubles this season, where they are ranked #2 in the nation by the ITA as of May 13. They were also selected to play in the NCAA Doubles Tournament. In addition to helping Tufts earn a strong 15-5 record in #1 doubles action this season, Maes also started at third, fourth and fifth singles for the Jumbos and notched an impressive 15-2 record.
An ITA All-American in doubles for the 2025 season, Maes and Ganchev won the ITA Cup doubles fall national championship in 2024. Maes played #2 doubles on the 2025 Tufts team that advanced to the NCAA Semifinals, and he was an ITA Cup doubles quarter finalist in 2023.
Tufts finished the season 25-3, going undefeated in the NESCAC at 10-0.
