| Sophomore Ty Enos led Tufts in the 8K race |
WILLIAMSTOWN - The Tufts University Men's Cross Country team competed in a pair of races today at the annual Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College at Mount Greylock High School. The Jumbos were eighth out of 22 teams in the eight-kilometer race and third of six in a 5K event.
The 8K team was led by sophomore Ty Enos, who finished in a time of 27:17.3 for 60th place individually. Freshman Andrew Doherty Munro was close behind with a 27:18.3 for 62nd. Freshman Tom Doyle was the third Jumbo finisher crossing the line in 27:22.6.
Tufts compiled a score of 288 overall in the 8K race. Freshman Brian Djerf was the fourth Tufts finisher (27:48.1) in 94th place overall out of 244 runners total. Sophomore John Greenberg scored fifth for the Jumbos and was 101st overall in 28:00.4.
In the 5K race, the Jumbos were led by freshman Hiroto Watanabe's 16:48.8 time for sixth overall. He led four Jumbos in the top 15 out of 69 runners total. Freshman Colin Raposo came along in 17:00.7 for ninth. Senior Alex Apostolides (17:18.1) in 13th and sophomore Tom DePalma (17:21.9) in 14th scored third and fourth for Tufts, respectively. Senior Veer Bhalla was fifth for Tufts and 23rd overall with a 17:44.2 finish.
The Jumbos posted a 51 team score in the 5K competition.
Tufts is idle next week. The top seven, rested this week, expect to be back in action at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship at Franklin Park on October 10.
