MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Middlebury's Adrianna Gildner scored the game-winning goal with 1:47 as the Panthers rallied for a 3-2 triumph over Tufts Saturday on Dragone Field.
The win pushed Middlebury to 9-2 overall and 4-2 in NESCAC play, while the Jumbos dropped to 4-3-3 and 3-2-1 in league play.
Tufts scored the only goal of the first half when Emma Ranalli lofted a direct kick from just outside of the penalty area just out of the reach of Panther keeper Kate Reinmuth for a 1-0 lead. The goal was her second of the season at the 26:45 mark of the match.
Trailing by a goal at the half, Middlebury got on the scoreboard in the 56th minute, tying the game at a goal apiece. Sara DiCenso pushed a pass ahead to Alex Barber before she floated a shot from 20 yards out into the net for her second tally of the season.
Mariah Harvey-Brown put the visitors back in front in the 72nd minute when she headed in a cross from Sarah Grubman.
The hosts responded less than seven minutes later on a goal by Gildner. Gildner tied the match at 2-2 when she tapped in a centering pass from Amanda Hotvedt with 11:52 left in the second stanza.
Gildner completed the comeback with 1:47 on the clock when she picked up a rebound after a shot by Katherine Hobbs for her sixth goal of the season.
Reinmuth earned her sixth win of the campaign for the Panthers without a save, while Emily Bowers recorded four stops. The hosts held a decisive 16-4 edge in shots and took three of the match's four corner kicks.
The Panthers travel to Connecticut College Saturday for an 11:00 a.m. start, while the Jumbos host Endicott at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
