MEDFORD – The No. 9 Tufts men's basketball team closed out their first semester schedule with a 74-56 win at Framingham State on Tuesday evening.  Five different Jumbos scored in double digits, including 12 points off the bench from junior KJ Garrett.

KJ Garrett helped with 12 points off the bench for the Jumbos Tuesday.

The Jumbos finish the first semester with an 8-2 mark and won their final two games to head into the break.  With the setback the Rams fall to 2-8 this season.

It was the Rams that took the lead early with four points from Timothy Mangano.  But, a three from junior Vincent Pace tied the game at seven with just under 15 mintues remaining in the first half.  Sophomore Ethan Feldman then sunk a three to give the Jumbos the 10-7 lead and they would never trail.

The Rams kept the game close as a Daniel Gould three-pointer in the final minute would send the teams to the break with Tufts leading 32-29.

The Rams scored on the opening possession of the half to cut the Jumbos lead to one but that's as close as they'd come. Tufts responded with a 7-0 run capped by a Pace layup early in the half to stretch their lead and a 10-0 run capped by a Ben Engvall trey to break away in the final minutes.

Five different Jumbos scored in double digits as senior co-captain Tom Palleschi, Pace and junior KJ Garrett all finished with 12 points.  Palleschi added seven rebounds and two blocks to his night and Pace added five rebounds. Feldman finished with 11 points and Engvall added ten points and six rebounds to the win.

For the Rams Payton finished with a game-high 20 points and Tyri Hampton added ten.

The Jumbos shot 50.9% from the floor and 43.8% from long range. The Rams were 46% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc.  The Jumbos took advantage scoring 17 points off turnovers to the host's nine.

The Rams return to action on Thursday, December 29 as they travel to the NYU Classic and face host NYU at 5 pm. The Jumbos return to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 4 when they host Lesley University at 7 pm.
