WELLESLEY - Junior diver Matt Rohrer of the Tufts University Men's Swimming & Diving team finished second in the one-meter competition at the NCAA Division III Diving Regional Championship on Friday at Wellesley College.
In an 11-dive program, Rohrer compiled a score of 479.36. He was edged for the Regional one-meter title by William Porter from the US Merchant Marine Academy who finished with a 482.65 score. Wesleyan's Brandon Pearson was third (469.20).
This is Rohrer's best one-meter finish and second-best overall finish in his third appearance at the Diving Regional. He won the three-meter event last season with a 585.20 score. He was previously third in one-meter last year (509.35) and fifth in the one-meter event in 2014 (507.30).
Jumbo sophomore Aaron Idelson was also one of the 15 competitors in the one-meter event today. Competing at his first NCAA Regional, Idelson placed eighth with a 418.45 score on 11 dives.
On Saturday, both Jumbos will be entered in the three-meter diving Regional at 3:30 pm.
