Men's Swimming and Diving Remain in Third After Second Day of MIT Invitational

Gu claimed first place in the 50 freestyle. 

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Tufts University men's swimming and diving team remained in their third place position after the second of two days at the MIT Invitational. The Jumbos wrapped up the second day with a total team score of 631.5. MIT finished in first with a 933.

Today was a heavier day of competition with nine events compared to yesterday's three. 

In the 200 freestyle relay a Tufts team of Jimmy Parker, Zachary Wallace, James McElduff, and Roger Gu took third place with a time of 1:32.37. McElduff was the top Tufts finisher in the 200 butterfly with a 1:53.27. Wallace took fourth in the 400 IM with a 4:07.00. And Gu finished in first place of the 50 freestyle with a 20.26. 

Tyler Tatro took sixth overall in the 200 freestyle with a 1:42.68. Kingsley Bowen came in second overall in the 100 backstroke with a 49.35. 

Bowen, Manfre, Wallace, and Gu was the top Tufts team to finish in the 400 medley relay with a 3:34.89. 

Aaron Idelson came in fourth place of the three meter diving event with a score of 262.30. 

The competition will continue tomorrow for the third and final day. Preliminary rounds start at 10 a.m.
