Men's Cross Country Finishes 25th at NCAA Championships In Wisconsin

WINNECONNE, Wis. – Running in the NCAA Championship race for the first time since 2015, the Tufts men's cross country team finished in 25th place.  The Jumbos were among five NESCAC teams racing at the national meet at the Lake Breeze Golf Course hosted by University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  

Senior Brian Reaney was the top Jumbo runner on Saturday

The Jumbos were the fourth NESCAC team to finish the race.  Amherst was the first NESCAC finisher in sixth place and Williams finished in eighth place.  Middlebury took 15th place while the Jumbos finished 25th and Bates earned 26th place.  North Central won the national championship with a score of 43.  Washington University St. Louis took home second place with a score of 110.  Amherst was the top New England finisher in sixth place.    

Senior Brian Reaney was the first Jumbo finisher, clocking a time of 25:34.5 good for 95th place.  Just behind him was classmate Colin Raposo who finished 97th with a time of 25:34.9.  Senior Dylan Jones finished third for the Jumbos, coming in 150th place with a time of 25:53.9.  Sophomore Peter Horvath ran a time of 26:28.1 and was the fourth Jumbo finisher, coming in 233rd overall.  The last Jumbo to score was senior Hiroto Watanabe, coming in 235th with a time of 26:29.2.  

Seniors Andre Doherty Munro and Rory Buckman also ran for the Jumbos.  Doherty Munro ran a time of 26:48.7, good for 251st place and Buckman finished with a time of 26:57.3 which earned him 259th place.

Dhruvil Patel of North Central was the individual winner with a time of 24:24.5.  Ryan Cox of Williams was the top New England and NESCAC finisher, coming in sixth place with a time of 24:37.2. 

The Jumbos were running in the NCAA race for the 15th time in program history.  They have six national top 10 finishes with a best of fifth place in 2005.
