CAMBRIDGE – The Tufts University men's swimming & diving team closed out day two of the MIT Invitational in second place out of five teams.

Host MIT leads with 1192 points. Tufts has a two-day total of 1119.5. RPI is ranked third with 614 points. Wheaton College and Keene State College round out the remainder of the field.
Tufts' A team in the 200 yard free relay finished with a time of 1:22.16 (NCAA B-cut). They were made up of senior Roger Gu, junior JJ Batt, and freshmen Peter LaBarge and Joshua Balbi. They took second place.
Freshman Sebastian Cai grabbed a fourth-place finish in the 200 yard fly (1:53.63). Senior Trevor Serman finished right behind Cai with a time of 1:54.91, good for fifth in the event.
Junior Tyler Tatro finished fourth in the200 yard free. His time narrowly edged the fifth place finisher as his time of 1:42.21 was within the same second as MIT's Trevor Carter. Tufts junior John LaLime finished sixth in the event at 1:44.05.
Jumbo sophomore Tar Tar Jarusinchai won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 56.28 seconds.
Balbi and sophomore Nate Tingen finished second and fourth in the 100 yard backstroke, respectively. Balbi's 49.84, am NCAA B-cut, was just .50 off the top time while Tingen was less than a second off the winning time with his 50.15.
Sophomore Michael Gregorace earned a fourth-place finish in the 400 yard individual medley. His time of 4:08.18 was just two seconds out of second place.
Gu tied a pool record in the 50 yard free at 19.75 seconds, and NCAA B time. LaBarge finished eighth in the event for Tufts at 21.21.
The 400 yard medley relay A-team placed second with a time of 3:21.13. Balbi, Jarusinchai, Tingen, and Gu made up the foursome.
In the diving event, freshmen Zach Lawrence and Kai Renshaw were second and third. Lawrence had a score of 289.55 while Renshaw was at 246.95.
Sunday's third and final day of action starts with a morning session at 10:30 am. The meet will finish up with an evening session beginning at 5:30 pm.
