Men's Swimming & Diving Downs Wheaton, 167-93

MEDFORD – The Tufts University Men's Swimming and Diving team extended their win streak to five as they downed Wheaton College, 167-93 at Hamilton Pool on Saturday afternoon.

The Jumbos A-relay and B-relay team finished first and second in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Senior Matthew Manfre, sophomore Nate Tingen, and freshmen Joshua Balbi and Peter LaBarge finished the event in 1:33.78.

Freshman Peter LaBarge had two wins on the day for the Jumbos.

The B-relay team consisted of seniors Costa Camerano and Roger Gu, sophomore Ethan Webster, and freshman Luke Isayiw completed the event in 1:34.76.

Gu, sophomore Tar Tar Jarusinchai, and Tingen rounded out the podium in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Gu finished with a time of 1:42.37. Jarusinchai and Tingen finished at 1:44.24 and 1:44.48.

In the 100 Yard Backstroke, senior Tim Gronet earned a first place finish with a 54.78. Junior Tyler Tatro was just .02 off the winning time for second place. Junior Connor Doyle rounded out the top three with a 56.89.

Junior JJ Batt earned a win in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. His time of 1:01.00 was .02 faster than senior Alexander Burnam. Sophomore Michael Gregorace was one second slower than Batt, which was good for fourth.

The Jumbos swept the podium in the 200 Yard Butterfly as junior John Koster, senior Trevor Serman, and junior Christian Schoen were first through third. Koster finished with a 1:58.72. Serman and Schoen finished with times of 2:00.12 and 2:04.14.

LaBarge earned his second win of the day in the 50 Yard freestyle with a time of 20.68. Camerano and Balbi finished second and third with times of 21.93 and 21.94. Gu also earned his second win on the afternoon as he finished the 100 Yard Freestyle in 44.96. Tingen and junior Noah Zhang were second and third with times of 47.53 and 48.03.

Balbi completed the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:59.58. Isayiw and Manfre had times of 2:15.57 and 2:18.32 in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Gregorace finished the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:13.59. Sophomore Ethan Webster earned a win in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:04.37.

In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Jarusinchai finished first at 52.07. Tingen and freshman Dylan Brown rounded out the top three with times of 52.40 and 53.39.

Freshmen Zachary Lawrence, Kai Renshaw, and Matt Langley finished first, second, and third in the 1 meter dive. Lawrence's 332.02 was the top score. Renshaw and Langley had scores of 323.40 and 262.19. Lawrence also earned the top-spot in the 3 meter dive at 341.77. Renshaw and Langley had scores of 266.77 and 228.97.

The Jumbos return to action on Saturday when they host MIT for their last home meet of the season. They are slated to start at 1pm.
