Lawrence Places 7th in Three-Meter Diving at NCAA Regional

Zach Lawrence was third among NESCAC divers at the three-meter NCAA Regional.

SPRINGFIELD – Freshman Zach Lawrence finished seventh in the three-meter competition at the 2020 NCAA Division III Region 3 (Northeast) Diving Championships at Springfield College on Friday.

A total of 17 divers competed, with Lawrence compiling a 451.15 season-best score to place seventh. Tufts freshman Kai Renshaw also competed and placed 14th with a 398.40 score. His mark is also a season-best.

Lawrence's best score of 52.50 came on his eighth dive, a reverse 2 ½ somersault pike. He also scored 50.40 in his final dive, a back 1 ½ somersault twist free. Renshaw's best score was a 43.20 on his sixth dive, a 2 ½ somersault pike.

The seventh-place finish by Lawrence narrowly misses qualifying him for the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina March 18-21.

Connor Pennington from host Springfield College won the three-meter Regional title with a 565.10 score today.

The Tufts tandem will be back in action tomorrow with the Regional one-meter competition at Springfield starting at noon.
