MEDFORD – The Tufts University men's cross country team finished eighth out of 26 teams on Saturday in the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Park in Waterford, Connecticut.
The top runner for the Jumbos was sophomore Walter Wagude who finished the eight-kilometer race 22nd overall out of 186 runners with a time of 25:31.3. As a team, Tufts finished with 215 points, beating out ninth-place George Fox University by just one point. Williams College won the event with 37 points.
Senior Sam Gatti (pictured) was the next Tufts runner to cross the finish line in 38th place with a time of 25:53.2, followed by senior Collin O'Sullivan who finished in 46th place with a time of 26:02.3. Senior Joseph Harmon came in 53rd with a time of 26:16.2 and not far behind him was junior Oliver Printy who finished in 58th with a time of 26:22.0 rounding out Tufts' scorers.
Tufts had all eight of their runners finish in the top 88 as freshman Martin Horne finished in 84th place with a time of 26:44.4. Junior Evan Ensslin and freshman Alex Friedman finished back-to-back in 87th and 88th place respectively. Ensslin posted a time of 26:48.2 while Friedman clocked in just behind him with a time of 26:48.5.
Next, the Jumbos will travel to Wickham Park in Manchester, Connecticut to compete in the NESCAC Championship hosted by Trinity College on Sunday, October 31.
