MEDFORD – The Tufts University men's cross country team finished in fourth place out of 12 teams Saturday in the sub-varsity race at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships at Franklin Park in Boston.
Tufts' top performer was sophomore Adam Bernstein (pictured) who finished the eight-kilometer race 17th overall out of 118 runners with a time of 26:46.0. As a team, Tufts' 93 score finished just seven points shy of UMass Lowell (86), the third-place finisher. Dartmouth College ended up winning the event with a score of 20 with UMass Amherst behind them in second place with 67 points.
The second Tufts runner to cross the finish line was junior Connor Giersch who came in 22nd place with a time of 27:02.5. Not far behind Giersch was sophomore Jack Walsh who finished in 27th place with a time of 27:09.2, then sophomore Nathaniel Oakes who finished in 31st place with a time of 27:11.0.
The next two Jumbos to cross the finish line were in a row and just one second apart. Sophomore Ryan Proulx finished in 49th with a time of 27:47.8, while freshman Brady Colford was right behind him in 50th with a time of 27:48.8, giving Tufts six runners in the top 50.
Enock Musyoka (28:03.7), Jackson O'Toole (28:08.3), James Johnson (28:31.6), Jack Taylor (28:36.6), Josh Schwartz (28:48.2), Chris Tilton (29:16.9), Sawyer Wilson (29:38.0), Marcus Hardy (29:39.0), Eli Kritzer (29:48.3), and Ethan Forde (32:06.6) all competed in the event for the Jumbos as well.
Next, Tufts will travel to Harkness Park in Waterford, Connecticut on October 16 to compete in the Connecticut College Invitational.
