CHESTNUT HILL - Junior Peter LaBarge won the 50 freestyle and was second in the 100 free as the Tufts University men's swimming & diving team returned to action on Friday night at Boston College.

LaBarge won the 50 free in 20.96 seconds, edging teammate Soeren Euvrard who touched in 20.98 seconds. The Jumbos had the top three finishers in the race as Alex Gu tied for third (21.52). In the 100 freestyle, LaBarge's 46.38 time was behind only BC's Sam Roche (46.05).

Senior Nate Tingen (pictured) had Tufts' other victory in the 100 backstroke, recording a 51.26 time. He also swam a solid 23.81 in the 50 back. He and LaBarge handled the last two legs of the 200 freestyle relay, joined by Gu and Euvrard, for a runner-up 1:23.38 time to close the meet.

Freshman Emmett Adams timed 26.72 for second place in the 50 breaststroke. Junior Joshua Balbi also had a runner-up effort in the 100 butterfly (50.61), and his 22.98 was third in the 50 fly. Sophomore Joshua Huang's 53.86 in the 100 individual medley was a solid effort.
