WATERFORD, CT - In their final regular-season race of 2022, the Tufts University men's cross country team was ninth out of 23 squads at the Connecticut College Invitational ran at Harkness Park on Saturday.
The Jumbos' five top finishers combined for a 291 team score. They were led by junior
Walter Wagude's 24:52.0 time over the eight-kilometer course for 18th place individually.
The large race saw 382 finishers. Jumbo sophomore
Ivan Appleton had a strong performance among that crowd with a 38th-place finish (second for Tufts) in a 25:15.1 time.
Sophomore
Martin Horne (25:51.0) was 81st, senior
Oliver Printy (25:58.8) was 91st and freshman
Luke Brennan (26:01.4) was 92nd overall to round out the Jumbo top five.
MIT won the invitational with a 46 score, followed by runner-up Williams College (78). The Ephs' Elias Lindgren was first at the race in a 23:43.3 time.
Tufts takes next week off before starting the championship season with the NESCAC race at Hamilton College on October 29.
