Medford, MA (October 25, 2022) – A Faith Jennings goal less than two minutes into double overtime proved to be the winner for Bowdoin Field Hockey as they beat Tufts 3-2 at Ounjian Field on Tuesday night.

In double overtime, after back-and-forth action between the teams, Jennings got the ball inside the circle and her shot was able to score for the winner.

Tufts got the scoring started as Reegan McCluskey scored her seventh goal of the season off an assist from Gabby Sousa. The Jumbos were awarded a corner and Zolin got the ball the Sousa at the top of the circle who fed McCluskey on the right wing and her shot gave Tufts the early 1-0 advantage.

After the first quarter ended 1-0, Bowdoin responded with two goals of their own. Jill Cloonan tied the game at one after a Tufts foul and Georgie Coetzer put the ball into the circle, where Cloonan was able to get on it and score. Then with less than two minutes remaining before halftime, Caroline Higgins put the visitors up 2-1. Her pass of a penalty corner was to Coetzer who shot it and it looked like it may go wide before Higgins came in and tipped it in to put Bowdoin up 2-1 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Jumbos tied the game off another corner. McCluskey got her second of the game as she took Zolin's pass again and tied the game. The third quarter would end with the two teams still tied at two apiece.

Both teams had opportunities to put there teams ahead in the fourth quarter. The first chance in the quarter came after a Bowdoin corner. With less than four minutes left, Coetzer received Higgins' pass and her shot hit the post and Tufts was able to clear to keep the game tied. For the Jumbos, McCluskey had an opportunity shot less than two minutes left in the quarter that was destined for the net before veering wide. The quarter would end 2-2.
