MEDFORD, PA (October 21, 2022) -- The Tufts Athletics department and a large number of student-athletes participated in the first-ever Community Cleanup, sponsored by Tufts Community Relations and Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn.
Athletes from women's basketball, softball, and track & field participated by helping cleanup around the Boston Ave/Hillside area.Volunteers filled trash bags and dropped them off with a truck coordinated by the Medford DPW.
In the future, Jumbo student-athletes will get sent out to different areas surrounding Tufts Campus for a morning of trash pickup and beautification. Community Cleanup Day is focused on proactive community building and respecting the space and the people that the University exists around.
"It was a great opportunity to help give back to a community that has done so much for me," said sophomore track and field student-athlete Nyla Thompson.
