BOSTON - The Jumbo men's cross country team posted a runner-up finish in the sub-varsity race at the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship held at Franklin Park on Saturday.
UMass Amherst won the race with a perfect 15-score, but the Jumbos were comfortably in second place as the lone Division III entry out of seven teams total with a 58 score. Division I Merrimack College was third at 68.
Freshman
Colin Duhnoski led the Jumbos in 11th place overall with a 26:51 eight-kilometer time that was just six seconds out of the top 10. Junior
David Manning came next for the Jumbos at 26:59 for 13th out of 91 runners overall. Sophomore
Brady Colford also had a top-20 performance for Tufts (27:32).
Close behind and rounding out the Jumbo scoring were junior
Jackson O'Toole in 21st individually with a 27:34 mark and junior
Nathaniel Oakes 23rd overall with a 27:39 time. Other marks earning top-seven finishes for Tufts were freshman
John Puka's 27:47 (25th) and sophomore
Alex Friedman's 27:50 (26th).
Tufts rested its varsity today, which will return at the Connecticut College Invitational next weekend before the start of the championship season later this month.
