MEDFORD, MA (November 22, 2022) - Six Tufts University players were announced as 2022 Academic All-District® Football Team members today, as selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Junior cornerback
Victor Garza, senior center
Blair Horning, senior running back
Tyler Johnson, senior tackle
Izzy Lobin, senior safety
Will McCreery and senior safety
Johnathan Oneal are the Jumbos to receive the honor.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.

Jay Civetti's Jumbos, who finished 6-3 for third in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Tufts was #8 in the final New England Football Writers' Division III poll.
The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.
