Lawrence 4th in Three-Meter Diving at NCAA Northeast / North Regional

NORTHAMPTON - Tufts University junior diver Zach Lawrence placed fourth in the three-meter event at the NCAA Northeast-North Diving Regional held today at Smith College.

Lawrence compiled an 11-dive score of 416.10 to place fourth out of 13 divers in the competition. That puts him in good position to earn a berth into the upcoming NCAA Championships, though that won't be officially determined until the end of the Diving Regional competition tomorrow.

He finished strong today with his 11th and final dive - a Back 1 1/2 Somersault 2 1/2 Twist Free - scoring 51.80 points, which followed a Forward 1 1/2 Somersault 2 Twist Free for his 10th dive which earned a 43.75 score. His sixth dive was the second-best of his day, an Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck that was rated for 45.90 points.

Williams College's Kobe Tray won the Regional title off the three-meter platform with a 469.15 score.

Lawrence will be in the one-meter diving regional competition tomorrow at noon.
