CLERMONT, Fla. - Kat Yuzefpolsky (pictured) was 3 for 3 with two runs and an rbi at the top of the Tufts batting order, and Sky Johnson pitched a three-hit shutout for five innings as the Jumbo softball team won their final game in Florida 10-0 over Westminster (Mo.) College on Sunday.
Johnson, making her collegiate debut this week, was 6-1 in Florida. Today she struck out four and walked none. Tufts got its 10 runs on just six hits, with two Westminster errors and some passed balls playing a part.
Tufts scored one in the first, two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth. Josie Steinberg grounded out for an rbi in the first. Yuzefpolsky's double to center field brought home one run in the second and Rachel Moore scoring on a passed ball was the other. In the third, Keila McCabe doubled home a run and then later scored before the final out was made on a double play that ended the inning. Steinberg came on another passed ball in the middle of the third. The four-run fourth featured an rbi single by Neumann, a sacrifice fly from Meggie Murphy and two runs that scored on two Blue Jays errors.
Adelman and Steinberg also scored twice for Tufts.
Emily Esquivel was 2 for 2 at the top of the order for Westminster.
After returning home, the Jumbos will open their home and NESCAC East Division schedules at Spicer Field this coming weekend against Bowdoin College.
