WALTHAM, MA (January 15, 2023) - First-year
Lily Klinginsmith won two races on Sunday as the Tufts University women's swimming & diving team returned to action with a 158-27 win at Brandeis.
Competing for the first time since December 10, the Jumbos won all 12 events against the Judges today. The meet was a make-up from the original November 20 date that was postponed. Tufts improved to a 4-1 record with the victory.
Klinginsmith had firsts in the 50 freestyle (24.41) and the 200 butterfly (2:11.33). She now has five individual victories in her debut collegiate season.
In the other freestyles at Brandeis, the Jumbos received winning swims from
Cierra McCarty in the 1,000 (10:45.60),
Claire Brennan in the 200 (1:54.90),
Katharine Skelly in the 100 (54.10) and
Katelin Isakoff in the 500 (5:11.44).
Valeria Strohmeier touched first in the 200 individual medley at 2:16.16, while
Madeleine Dunn won the 200 backstroke with a 2:07.09 mark and
Quinci Wheeler had a 2:26.53 win in the 200 breaststroke.
One-meter diving was contested and the Jumbos performed well.
Malia Leung won with a 299.85 score, followed by
Sydney Ho's 290.02 and
Alaina Kosko's 271.19 total.
Mixed foursomes competed in 400 medley and free relays at the meet.
Liz Sutton and
Lara Wujciak from the women's team joined Jack Madden and Sean Carr as the winning 400 medley relay with a 3:33.93 finish. Brennan and
Jillian Cudney later helped win the 400 free relay (3:22.84) with men's team members Timothy Chou and Armaan Sikka. Wujciak was also third in the 200 individual medley with a 2:16.65 time.
The Jumbos swim at Bates College next on Friday with a 5:30 pm start.
