MEDFORD, MA (March 2, 2023) – Tufts University senior diver
Zach Lawrence was selected as an alternate for the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships to be held March 15-18 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
NCAA national berths were awarded to the top-four finishing divers at the NCAA Region 3 meet held last weekend at NYU. Lawrence was sixth among the competitors therefore receiving the second alternate spot for the region.
In order for Lawrence to compete at Nationals, two of the Region 3 qualifiers would have to scratch from competing at the NCAA meet. Scratches are accepted until the Friday before the meet starts (March 10).
At the NYU Regional, Lawrence was fifth off the one-meter board with a 421.30 score and seventh in three-meter at a 416.60 score (11 dives each). He was the NESCAC runner-up in both events.
Were he to compete at NCAA's, it would be his second time. A year ago Lawrence was 12th in one-meter and 16th in three-meter at the national championship for a pair of honorable mention All-American performances.
