AMHERST, MA (April 1, 2023) -- The No. 4 Tufts University men's tennis team remained undefeated today in a road conference victory at No. 21 Amherst 6-3.
 
In the doubles session, Amherst (5-4) took a 1-0 lead at the No. 2 spot, but 
Vuk Vuksanovic and 
Derin Acaroglu tied the match up with an 8-6 win at No. 1. The Jumbos would take a 2-1 team lead going into the singles session after 
Jack Moldenhauer and 
Alex Ganchev dominated in an 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot. 
Rishabh Sharda got Tufts rolling in the singles sessions by winning in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-1, over Opie Edred. This bumped the Jumbos team lead to 3-1 in the match.
The Mammoths didn't go away as they would secure a victory at the No. 2 singles spot to get the team score to 3-2 Tufts. The Jumbos would respond by winning at the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 spots.  
At the No. 3 position, Ganchev defeated Jacob Esterowitz after dropping the first set, but responded to win the next two sets, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. Acaroglu would provide the winning point in the match as he picked up the victory at the No. 4 spot in three sets over Marshall Leung., 7-6 ,2-6, 6-3.
Tufts didn't take its foot off the gas though, as 
Javier Gonzalez would win the Jumbos their sixth point of the match, as he would defeat Sujit Chepuri in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-3. Amherst would pick up their third point in the match at the No. 6 position to finish the match with Tufts winning 6-3.
Tufts will look to continue its undefeated run, heading to Hamilton College Sunday, April 2nd at 10 a.m. for more New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play in Clinton, NY.
