NEW LONDON, CT (April 20, 2024) -- The Tufts University women's tennis team won their fourth straight New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) outing on Saturday afternoon, dispatching of host Connecticut College 9-0 in play from Luce Field House.
The Jumbos (8-6, 5-3 NESCAC) rolled through doubles with three victories, as
Zoe Kava and
Rebecca Lim earned an 8-2 win at the top position over Courtney Banks and Maya Kowalska.
Stephanie Woodbury and
Natalie Hu won an 8-0 blanking of Lily Kerachsky and Caitlin Cass, winning their third straight doubles match while moving to 9-5 on the season.
In the No. 3 doubles spot,
Lucy Mitchell and
Nikki Kintiroglou earned their first official victory as a pair on Saturday, posting an 8-3 win over Ella Griffiths and Sana Bhat of Conn. College (7-10, 0-8 NESCAC).
The wins continued to come in singles action, as Kava bested Cass 6-2, 6-2 to collect her sixth straight singles' victory. Her nine wins on the campaign are best on the team, while she is also now 7-1 in league play this season.
Lim won in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 for the victory at No. 2 singles, and Mitchell was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles over Kowalska as she picked up her fourth straight victory in singles' play. Hu was strong at No. 4, posting a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Banks while
Steffy Jullian knocked off Bhat 6-2, 0-6, 6-1 in a three-setters at No. 5.
The final win of the day for Tufts came from Kintiroglou, as she earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Griffiths for her third straight win of the spring.
Tufts battles Hamiton College next Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day on Voute Courts.
