MEDFORD, MA (April 27, 2024) -- The No. 16 Tufts University women's tennis squad celebrated the stellar careers of its two seniors Saturday afternoon, as the Jumbos honored
Zoe Kava and
Rebecca Lim with a 7-2 victory over Hamilton College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play from Voute Courts.
The Jumbos held a pre-match ceremony to recognize Kava and Lim, and then wasted no time taking the match lead as the pair teamed up to pick up an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Stephanie Pratt and Hannah Apsey, 8-2. The win was the duo's third straight victory at the top position.
Natalie Hu and
Stephanie Woodbury also chalked up their 10th win of the season at No. 2 doubles 8-2, but Hamilton clawed back into the match with an 8-5 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Kava picked up her second win of the day and 10th of the season with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Apsey. The triumph was Kava's seventh straight victory. Lim was also a straight set victor at No. 2 singles, as she tallied her 10th win of the campaign with a 6-2, 6-1 scoreline.
At No. 4 singles,
Lucy Mitchell tallied a 6-1, 6-4 win over Shannon Cicero for her fifth straight win, moving to 9-5 on the season. Hu dropped just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5, and
Nikki Kintiroglou tallied her fourth straight win at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Grace Qian.
Tufts moved to 5-0 on the season at home and has won seven of its last eight overall.
The Jumbos host No. 12 Amherst College Sunday at 2 p.m. in the regular season finale on Voute Courts.
