Box Score MEDFORD, MA (April 28, 2024) -- The No. 16 ranked Tufts University women's tennis team played their final match of the regular season today at home on Voute Courts on the campus of Tufts University. The Jumbos fell short 5-4 against Amherst College.
The Jumbos (9-7) started the day out with doubles as they went 1-2 for doubled play. Senior's
Zoe Kava and
Rebecca Lim fell short to Deliala Charles Friedman and Lily Dounchis 6-8 at the No. 1 doubles. At the No. 2 doubles sophomore
Stephanie Woodbury and first-year
Natalie Hu was bested by Amy Cui and Katie Hart 5-8. The only Jumbos win in doubles came at the No. 3 spot as sophomores
Steffy Jullian and
Lucy Mitchell bested Sophie Diop and Greta Stechschulte 8-4.
In singles action, Kava faced off against Friedman at the No. 1 singles. Kava was bested 4-6, 2-6. At the No. 2 singles, Lim fell short 2-6, 4-6. At the No. 3 singles junior Sophia Wax was bested by Diop 4-6, 2-6.
The Jumbos got a win at the No. 4 singles as Mitchell defeated Dounchis 7-6 (5), 3-6, 10-5. At the No. 5 singles, Hu defeated Karolina Dobiecka in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. At the No. 6 singles match sophomore
Nikki Kintiroglou bested Maddie Swire 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Up next the Jumbos will compete in the NESCAC Championships in Amherst, MA. The first scheduled match will be played on Friday May 3.
