HARTFORD, CT (April 7, 2024) - The No. 14 ranked Tufts University men's tennis team competed in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) duel match play against foe Trinity College at the Paul Assaiante Tennis Center in Hartford Connecticut Sunday afternoon.
The Jumbos (7-5) breezed through doubles at the beginning of the match. Junior
Vuk Vuksanovic and
Alex Ganchev defeated Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion and Jack Ginter 8-3. Junior
Derin Acaroglu and senior
Mauricio Gutierrez had the closest doubles match of the day but they were able to defeat Luca Garbati and Pierce Rutledge 8-5. In the last double sophomore
Sacha Maes and senior
Corey Marley defeated Rico Buoro and Brandon Felcher 8-3.
In singles play the Jumbos also thrived, they swept all six matches in straight sets. Vuksanovic defeated Sanchez-Carrion 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 1 singles match. At the No. 2 singles match sophomore
Javier Gonzalez defeated Rutledge 6-2, 6-1, and at the No. 3 singles match Acaroglu defeated Buoro in an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory.
At the No. 4 singles match Ganchev defeated Andrew Nelson 6-2, 6-4. At the No. 5 singles first year,
Garv Bahl blanked Kartik Erodula winning 6-0, 6-0, and at the No. 9 singles,
Andrej Djokic defeated Brandon Felcher 6-3, 6-0.
The men's tennis team will continue NESCAC play next weekend April 13, as they will come home to face off Colby College on the Voute Courts on the campus of Tufts University. The match is scheduled to go off at 10 A.M.
