Six Jumbos On 2024 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams

MEDFORD, MA (June 25, 2024) - Six Tufts University student-athletes have earned spots on the 2024 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances academically and athletically.

The Jumbos receiving the honor are 2024 Tufts University graduates Madeline Delaney (lacrosse), Andrea DelGiudice (field hockey) and Shira Roberts (rowing), senior Lainie Pearson (field hockey) and juniors Kat Fernandopulle (lacrosse) and Margie Carden (lacrosse).

To be nominated, student-athletes must be a significant contributor to the team with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. A limit of six nominations per school is set. For field hockey and lacrosse players, nominees must have competed in 90-percent of the team's total games played or have started 66-percent of the team's total games. For rowing, nominees must have competed in a minimum of four competitions or had at least one top-eight finish at a conference championship meet.

For the Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, student-athletes from the following sports are eligible - Women's Beach Volleyball, Women's Bowling, Women's Fencing, Women's Field Hockey, Women's Golf, Women's Gymnastics, Women's Ice Hockey, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Rifle, Women's Rowing, Women's Skiing and Women's Water Polo.

Roberts (Biology major) rowed for the Tufts team that won the NCAA Division III Championship in the spring. Pearson (Architectural Studies) and DelGiudice (Economics and Computer Science) from field hockey, and Carden (International Relations), Delaney (Economics) and Fernandopulle (Psychology) from lacrosse were leaders of Tufts University teams which advanced to their respective NCAA Tournament "Elite 8" rounds in 2023-24.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes Women's At-Large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. ?????? were selected to advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on July 16.
