Four Teams in Action at Home Hood Trophy on Upper Mystic Lake

MEDFORD, MA (September 21, 2024) - Tufts University is hosting the annual Hood Trophy out of Bacow Sailing Pavilion on Upper Mystic Lake. On Saturday, conditions allowed for eight races in A division and six in B's.

Tufts has four boats in the event. Through Saturday the Jumbos 1 team is 10th overall out of 20 teams with a 139 score, while Jumbos 4 is 13th (149), Jumbos 2 is 14th (153) and Jumbos 3 is 15th (165). Harvard University is in first place through Saturday with a team score of 74.

The Jumbos 1 team is skippered in A division by senior Shea Smith with senior Magdelaina Putnam as crew. The Jumbos 1 B team is senior skipper Adrien Bellanger with junior crew Margaret Klein. Jumbos 4 has an A divisiion team of senior skipper Jack Flores with senior crew Nicole Morikawa, and a B division pair of junior skipper Blake Vogel with junior crew Stefano Chiampo. The Jumbos 2 team consists of senior skipper Adam Larzelere with sophomore crew Sean Beaver in A's, and freshman skipper Brayden Benesch in B's (no B crew is listed in today's results). Jumbos 3 is a women's team with an A division duo of sophomore skipper Maria Skouloudi with first-year crew Amelia Traver, and a B division tandem of first-year skipper Kiana Beachy with sophomore crew Eloise Goedkoop.

Flores and Morikawa are sixth in A division after winning two races today. Smith and Putnam are right behind them in seventh place for A's.

Action on day two of the Hood Trophy will start at approximately 10 AM.
