MEDFORD, MA (October 16, 2025) – A robust squad of nine boats from the Tufts University rowing teams will compete at the 2025 Head of the Charles Regatta this weekend (Oct. 18-19).
The prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR) has been held since 1965, making this year's event the 60th in its history. The regatta is recognized as the world's largest three-day rowing event, attracting thousands of athletes and spectators each year.
The Jumbos will have three boats in action to begin their HOCR schedule on Saturday. A group of women's graduates will row in the Alumnae Eights that starts at 11:15 AM and in the Alumnae Fours which begins at 12:04 PM. The current men's fourth varsity eight is entered in the Club Eights which has a 1:44 PM start time.
On Sunday, both the Tufts men's and women's teams have their top three boats racing in the Collegiate Eights. The women's race begins at 2:59 PM and the men's race starts at 3:38 PM.
The unique three-mile HOCR course features each boat going out individually with 15-second intervals between teams. The Tufts women's first varsity, the two-time defending HOCR Collegiate Eights champions, will be the first team to start in this year's race. The men's first varsity, who won in 2023 and were sixth last year, start fifth in their race this year.

1V8 - Aidan Keusch (coxswain), Vince Mezzanotte, Maxwell Rosenberger, Peter Conard, Peter McLaughlin, Mark Machle, Max Nusbaum, Xander Mesires and Theo Balavoine.
2V8 - Lexi Acosta (coxswain), Seamus Ruiseal, Peter McCormick, Harrison Sweet, Lev Tolkoff, Owen McKendry, Miles Smith, Ethan Seidner and Alex Flynn.
3V8 – Nina Suhrbier (coxswain), Logan Raymond, Whit Smyers, Oliver Sjoholm, Alex Matthews, Parker Mace, Ben Sackrey, Fritz Oldenburg and Mason Sibley.
4V8 – Mallory Atkinson (coxswain), Colin Cooper, Abe Nelson, Jack Craig, Logan Thom, Robert Arsenault, Dominic Svagdis, Finn Barrett and Alex Dremov.
The Tufts women's varsity teams will line up as follows this weekend:
1V8 - Hannah Jiang (coxswain), Josie Monroe, Sami Haynes, Rose Tinkjian, Emma Lyle, Zenani Himlin-Mayekiso, Aubyn Mackey, Sam Dodds and Sydney Barr.
2V8 - Mackenna Billington (coxswain), Erica Wayland, Katherine Tombaugh, Saskia Petitt, Cece Schelter, Sonia Haynes, Celia Carson, Lecia Sun and Sonja Wartman.
3V8 - AJ Nguyen (coxswain), Jacqueline Mulle, Sophie Cumming, Ava Chan, Julia Zipoli, Sheelyn Pharr, Hudson Saunders, Ava Elliot and Sanjana Rao.
