WATERFORD, CT (October 18, 2025) – Two Tufts University cross country squads competed at the Connecticut College Invitational today at Harkness State Park.
First out on the course today was the Jumbo second varsity, and Tufts was a strong second out of 33 teams in the women's White race. Later on, the first varsity ran 10th out of 33 teams in the women's Blue race.
In the White race, the Jumbos' 73 team score was well ahead of third-place MIT (124). Williams College won the White race with a team score of 20.
Sophomore
Grace Doyle was the top Tufts finisher in the White race, placing fifth out of 345 total competitors with a personal-best 22:32.3 mark for six kilometers. Scoring second for Tufts was junior
Sonia Olson in 10th (22:41.3), followed by senior
Vivian Lau 19th (23:01.6 PR), senior
Julia Dolce 20th (23:02.1 PR) and sophomore
Eleanor Whitehouse 23rd (23:05.2 PR).
In the women's Blue race, which capped the four men's and women's races at the Invitational today, Tufts compiled a 299 team score for 10th.
Senior Liz Donohue led the Jumbos again, covering the 6K course in 21:49.52 for 41st place overall. Junior
Katya Henisz ran 22:06.34 to score second for the Jumbos in 57th place. Sophomore
Deirdre Flanagan's 22:16.95 was third for the Jumbos and 64th overall.
Sophomore
Samara McVey posted the best 6K of her young career with a 22:25.92 mark that was 74th overall. Classmate
Zoe Margolies was the fifth Jumbo scorer crossing the finish line in 77th place (22:28.23).
Williams College won the women's Blue race with a 73 team score, ahead of runner-up MIT at 97.
The Jumbos are idle next week before starting the championship season at the NESCAC meet on November 1 back at Harkness State Park.
