Coed Sailing Just Misses Qualifying for Atlantic Coast Championship Finals

NEW LONDON, CT (October 5, 2024) - The Jumbo coed sailing team finished 10th out of 18 teams at the Atlantic Coast Championship (ACC) 1B qualifier which concluded today.

Tufts just missed being one of nine teams to qualify for the ACC finals with today's 10th-place score of 160. Bowdoin College, the ninth and final team to qualify, was one point better than the Jumbos with a 159 team score.

The Jumbos will instead compete at the Atlantic Coast Tournament, a consolation event to be held October 18-19 at St. Mary's College in Maryland.

On Sunday the ACC 1B qualifier had five races ran in A and B divisions. A total of eight races were scored for the weekend overall.

The Tufts B division team of skipper Oliver Keeves with crew Reddin Kehrli finished ninth in B's with a 67 score across eight races. They were fifth in Sunday's third race for their best.

In A division, Tufts had two teams in action today. Skipper Ben Mueller and crew Kate Castleberry were on board for the first three Sunday starts. Wyatt Bischoff skippered with Greta Klein as crew for the final two A races. The Jumbos placed 12th in A's with their 94 score for the weekend.

Brown University won the regatta with a scoring line of 29-28-57.
