Field Hockey Winning Streak To 6 With 3-1 Victory Over Amherst

MEDFORD, MA (October 8, 2025) – The seventh-ranked Tufts University field hockey team ran its winning streak to six games tonight with a 3-1 final over #21 Amherst College in a NESCAC game at Ounjian Field.

The Jumbos have the longest current winning streak in the league – twice as long as anyone else - and improved to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Amherst dropped its second straight and fell to 5-6 and 2-5 NESCAC.

The visiting Mammoths struck first on  corner with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter. After the insert by Maya Harrington, Anna Aiello moved the ball right to Emma Zhang inside the curve of the circle. She slid a pass to Molly Doneghan in front who redirected it in for her team-high fourth goal.

Tufts would tie the score two-and-a-half minutes into the second quarter. From along the right end line just outside the circle, Reagan Malo sent the ball in to Eleanor Helm who put a light deflection on goal. After the save, Hannah Biccard controlled the rebound and spun for a back-hand shot and her 10th goal of the season.

The Jumbos would take the lead in the middle of the third quarter. After a deflected shot by Tufts' Malo was batted away by Amherst goalie Kate Grady, it went to Eleanor Helm. Her shot was blocked, then she sent another attempt toward the goal where Malo tapped it to over Hannah Murray on the left side. Grady got a piece of Murray's back-hand shot, but not enough and the Jumbos led 2-1.

The one-goal game went deep into the fourth quarter. With eight minutes on the clock, the Mammoths had a corner where Bella Kim fired a shot from up top. Tufts' Lydia Eastburn flashed out her pad for the save.

Amherst pulled Grady from the goal for an extra player with five minutes left in regulation. The Jumbos would take advantage of it on a corner, with Claire Casey scoring off the insert from Lilly Ragusa for an insurance goal that came with just under one minute remaining.

Tufts would finish this closely-played contest with advantages of 12-4 in shots and 4-3 in corners. Grady stopped four shots for Amherst, while Eastburn made two saves for the Jumbos.
