BEVERLY, MA (November 16, 2025) -- The No. 4 Tufts University men's basketball team shot the three-ball very well Sunday afternoon at Endicott College, hitting 52.2 percent from deep, but couldn't overcome 17 turnovers in a 76-73 loss to the host Gulls in action from MacDonald Gymnasium.
The Jumbos (0-2) nailed 12 threes on the game and shot a very strong 48.1 percent from the floor, but gave up 25 points off turnovers while allowing 38 points in the paint to the Gulls (4-0).
Tufts led during the early going of the contest, as senior
James Morakis hit a jumper to make it 10-9 just six minutes into the game. Endicott went on the offensive and netted the next eight points to take a seven-point lead, and took as much as a 11-point edge at 23-12 with nine minutes left in the frame.
Tufts battled back to regain the lead with a minute to play on a three-pointer by
Sidney Wooten, eventually heading to the halftime break tied at 35. The Gulls took the lead early in the second half and held it for the remainder of the game, pushing their edge to nine with under two minutes to play.
Junior
Dylan Reilly hit back-to-back three-pointers followed by a triple from
Jon Medley to trim the Tufts' deficit to just two with 18 seconds remaining. Endicott would hit its final four free throws though down the stretch to clinch the win.
Reilly finished with 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting from three-point land, adding four rebounds, while Medley also had 18 points to go with three assists, three blocks and two boards. Medley was 5-of-8 from the floor, making all three of his three-point attempts.
Senior
Joshua Bernstein tallied his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds, making seven of his 10 field goals on the day. Morakis finished with eight points and three rebounds, while Wooten added eight points off the bench.
Marcus Montagnino and Elijah Kinney each had 28 points to pace the Gulls, who made 19-of-23 (82.6 percent) from the free throw line. Today marks the first time since 2021-22 that the Jumbos have lost the opening two games of the season.
Tufts will take on Suffolk University Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Cousens Gymnasium in the home opener for the Jumbos.
