MEDFORD, MA (December 16, 2025) - Four Tufts University players have been recognized on the 2025 Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators organization (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The Jumbos receiving the honor are senior
Julia Griffiths, juniors
Claire Castor and
Emma Heckman, and sophomore
Maiwenn Kamdje. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be an All-Conference-caliber player with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale). Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's games or started at least two-thirds of the team's contests. Castor, Griffiths and Heckman are all repeat honorees after earning Academic All-District® honors for 2024.
Castor (economics & psychology major), Griffiths (psychology), Heckman (environmental studies, environmental science, biology) and Kamdje (undecided) were leading members of head coach
Cora Thompson's Tufts team that won the NESCAC Championship this fall, hosted an NCAA Regional and advanced to the Regional final. The Jumbos finished the season with a 24-6 record.
The College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. A committee selects certain Academic All-District® honorees to advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® awards will be announced on January 13, 2026.
