MEDFORD, MA (February 1, 2025) -- The No. 11 Tufts University women's squash squad celebrated the careers of
Riddhi Joshi,
Nieve Monderer and
Aleezah Burhan Saturday afternoon on Senior Day with a 9-0 blanking of visiting No. 17 Bowdoin College in action from the Tufts Squash Center.
The Tufts' trio of seniors were honored on court prior to the match, and then the Jumbos (7-6) took care of business once in action. Junior
Vharsha Dinesh continued her stellar play of late as she knocked off Emma Watt-Roy at the top position 11-8, 11-9 and 11-7. Dinesh has now won five straight matches to get to 6-4 on the season.
Joshi also has been playing her best squash of the season lately, winning her third straight at the No. 2 spot with an 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 win in three games over Amanda Cowhey. First-year
Anika Goyal needed four games games but still picked up the win at No. 3 over Eshika Tangri, 11-5, 11-5, 10-12 and 11-6.
Burhan moved up to No. 4 for the match and fended off Clare Collins in four games, 11-4, 11-7, 7-11 and 11-5. Burhan is now 7-6 on the season, and has picked up a win in four different spots in the lineup in 2024-25 with her win Saturday. Monderer matched her classmate once again, a trend that has become common in their careers, with a 12-10, 14-12, 11-7 victory at No. 5 over Darcy Weber. Monderer leads the team with eight wins, and has taken her last two matches.
First-year
Indira Moshi won in three games at No. 6 over Amelie Matuch 11-7, 11-2 and 11-6, and classmate
Mia Kim stayed unbeaten at 3-0 on the year with an 11-8, 11-8 and 11-9 win against Linley Grosman at No. 7.
Freshman
Anika Parr also won her third straight match on the season with a three-game win over Kira Gwadry 13-11, 11-9 and 11-5, and junior
Mafi Pinot won a thrilling five-game match over Mira Karande 11-7, 11-4, 10-12, 7-11 and 11-9 at No. 9.
Sophomore
Sora Karanja topped Elizabeth Kennedy 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 in exhibition action for the Jumbos. It was first 9-0 sweep on the season for the Jumbos, who have now won six of their last seven.
The Jumbos will finish the regular season on Sunday afternoon, hosting Colby College at noon inside Tufts Squash Center.
