HARTFORD, CT (February 1, 2025) -- The No. 9 Tufts University men's basketball team shot a season-low 30.8 percent from the floor Saturday, never getting going in a 81-45 loss to host and No. 16 Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play from Ray Oosting Gymnasium.
The Jumbos (17-4, 5-2 NESCAC) hit the game's first field goal 2:30 into the contest to make it 2-1, but that would be the last time Tufts would lead in the game as Trinity went on a 14-2 win over the next five minutes to take a 15-4 lead.
Tufts pulled to within nine with 10:30 to play in the first half on a bucket from
Zion Watt, but it would be the final time Trinity led by less than 10 as the host Bantams controlled action for the win.
Junior
Scott Gyimesi led the Jumbos with eight points and 10 rebounds, while
Dylan Reilly finished with seven points. Sophomore
Liam Kennelly came off the bench to make three of his four field goals for six points, and
Jon Medley finished with four points, four rebounds and three assists.
The 16 made field goals were a season-low for the Jumbos, while the 14.3 percent from three-point land was also the lowest of the year for Tufts.
Henry Vetter had 22 points to lead the Bantams, and Drew Lazarre added 19 points in the victory.
Tufts will host Amherst College Friday, February 7 at 7 p.m. inside Cousens Gymnasium in more NESCAC play.
