CLINTON, N.Y. (February 8, 2025) -- Hamilton College used a big second quarter to pull away from the Tufts University women's basketball team, securing a 72-54 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday afternoon.
After a closely contested first quarter, which saw Tufts hold a slim 16-14 lead, Hamilton erupted for 23 points in the second while holding the Jumbos to just seven. The Continentals carried a 37-23 advantage into halftime and never relinquished control.
Kendall Harris led the way for Hamilton with a double-double, scoring 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting while grabbing 11 rebounds. Taylor Lambo added 13 points and five rebounds, while Sam Glickman chipped in 12 points and six boards. The Continentals shot an efficient 51.1% from the field and converted 23-of-27 free throws, capitalizing on their trips to the line.
Tufts struggled with efficiency, shooting just 30.1% from the field and 18.5% from three-point range.
Monet Witherspoon was the bright spot for the Jumbos, leading all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Sofia Gonzalez added nine points, while Caitlyn O'Boyle contributed six points and nine rebounds.
Despite winning the rebounding battle 35-37, Tufts was unable to overcome their shooting struggles and 13 turnovers, which Hamilton turned into 15 points. The Continentals also benefited from strong bench production, outscoring Tufts' reserves 22-9.
With the win, Hamilton improves to 15-7 overall and 4-4 in NESCAC play, while Tufts falls to 14-8 (5-4 NESCAC).
