ROCHESTER, NY (March 14, 2025) - The Tufts University women's indoor track and field team featured some strong performances during day one of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships in the Golisano Training Center at Nazareth College on Friday.
The first Jumbo to compete on the national stage was senior
Sarah Firth. The pole vaulter entered the tournament after a season that saw her break her own school record with a vault of 3.92m. In the NCAA Championships, she jumped for a 3.87m to land her in 10th place in a nationwide field of jumpers. She finishes her season with four first place finishes, a school record and an NCAA Championship appearance.
Also competing for the Jumbos on day one was the 4x400m Relay squad of senior
Annika Kral, senior
Emma Smith, first year
Makayla Moriarty and first year
Arielle Chechile. The group reached the Championships after also setting a new school record, setting a new program best of 3:50.97. In the NCAA Championships they ran a 3:52.99 for ninth place. The solid finish missed out on qualifying for the finals by just 0.21 seconds.Â
The Tufts women's team will have senior
Jordan Andrew and freshman
Elysse Cumberland competing in the NCAAÂ triple jump on Saturday starting at 11 AM.
