Tufts Second at Southern New England Team Race After One Day

NEW LONDON, CT (March 15, 2025) - The Tufts University coed sailing team is in second place out of 10 teams after one day at the Southern New England Team Raced hosted by Connecticut College on the Thames River.

In a round-robin competition that finished up near 6 PM, Tufts recorded a 6-3 record versus the other nine teams. The Jumbos, Bowdoin College, Boston College and Tulane all had 6-3 marks, but Tufts wins a tie-breaker based upon the number of races won when tied teams met (3).

Today, the Jumbos won against Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown University, Connecticut College, MIT, and Tulane University. They lost against US Coast Guard Academy, Roger Williams University, and the University of Rhode Island. Roger Williams leads the regatta with a 7-2 record.

Racing for the Jumbos today were junior skipper Ben Mueller with first-year crew Kate Castleberry, sophomore skipper Wyatt Bischoff with senior crew Cindy Wang and sophomore skipper Kurt Stuebe with senior crew Naomi Pedersen.

A second day of competition will be held on Sunday starting at 10:30 AM.
