ATLANTA, GA. (March 21, 2025) - The Tufts University women's outdoor track and field team had a successful first day outdoors at the Emory Spring Break Classic in Georgia on Friday.
Leading off the day for Tufts was
Ceci LaBarge in the hammer throw. The sophomore finished sixth with a personal best toss of 43.97m, setting up a strong day for the Jumbos.
Senior
Harper Meek kept the momentum going with a second place finish in the high jump. Her mark of 1.60m was just seven centimeters shy of her personal best.Â
The track saw senior
Emma Smith take third place in the 400m hurdles, finishing with a 1:03.45 to claim a podium spot by just six thousandths.
The 2025 NCAA Division III Championships qualifying 4x400m relay team of senior
Annika Kral, senior Emm Smith, first year
Makayla Moriarty and first year
Arielle Chechile kept their hot indoor season going outdoors as they finished first in the same event with a time of 3:52.20, an agonizing three thousandths away from the 21 year old school record. Nonetheless, it was a great finish to the first day of competition in the Peach State.
Tufts will continue competition at the Emory Spring Break Classic tomorrow at 10:00 am.
