CAMBRIDGE, MA (March 30, 2025) – The Tufts University coed sailing team finished sixth out of eight teams at the 2025 Marchiando Trophy-Red Regatta hosted by MIT on Sunday.
After earning an 8-5 record in round-robin racing on Saturday, the Jumbos opened Sunday by winning against the University of Rhode Island in the only match they had remaining in a second round-robin. That put Tufts at a 9-5 mark overall.
However, a third-round robin on Sunday would not go Tufts' way as the Jumbos won just once in seven races. That gave them a 10-11 record for the weekend overall, a .476 mark that tied with Bowdoin College. The Polar Bears won the tie-breaker (number of races won when the tied teams met) for fifth place.
Tufts defeated MIT in the third round-robin today, and lost to Boston College, Bowdoin, Rhode Island, Roger Williams University, Stanford University and Tulane University.
The Jumbos' starting sailors for Sunday's action were not yet available at the time of this release. They will be added later.
Boston College won the regatta with an 18-3 record for a .857 winning percentage.
