MALDEN, MA (April 12, 2025) - The Tufts University men's rowing team swept four varsity eight races against Division I Marist University on Saturday at Malden River.
Wintry conditions on Saturday morning forced a change to the racing schedule format. The Jumbos were originally slated to race against Bates College and Wesleyan University on Saturday, but did not.
Instead, Tufts went head-to-head against a Marist team that is receiving votes in this week's IRCA/IRA Men's D1/D2 Varsity 8+ national poll. The Jumbos won all four races, with the first varsity earning a 6:08.9 to 6:17.2 victory, the 2V8 finishing in 6:22.1 to the Red Foxes' 6:28.6, Tufts taking the third varsity contest 6:31.9 to 6:35.8 and the fourth varsity result going to Tufts 6:38.0 to 6:54.6.
Two Jumbo varsity fours also competed in a series against Bates and Marist. Both Tufts teams won the first-round, with the 5V4A team timing 7:46.9 and the 5V4B at 7:55.6. Facing each other in the final, the 5V4B won with a 7:40.4 mark to A's 7:47.1.
Tufts also celebrated Senior Day today on the final home date of the spring season at Shoemaker Boathouse.
The Jumbos will be on Lake Quinsigamond for the first time this spring next Sunday (Apr. 20) for the annual first varsity Baker Cup race and more against WPI.
